Week Thirty-Eight: Numismatic

Well, that intarsia pattern is still kicking my butt, but here's something I've finished in the meantime. Z is fascinated by my wallet. I made this one for her, to keep old customer reward cards and things for her to play with. She likes it.

Numismatic is a coin purse or wallet worked in the round from the bottom up with a coin-shaped cable motif and a button closure.

Price: FREE.

Yarn: You will need approximately 50 yards of a worsted-weight wool that cables well for best results. (Pictured: Patons Classic Wool in Olive – worsted, 1 skein / 100g / 223 yards, 100% wool)

Supplies:
  • US size 5 double-pointed needles
  • US size 5 cable needle or other cabling method of your choice
  • One 7/8-inch button
  • stitch markers (optional)
  • needle and thread
  • tapestry needle
Gauge: 1 inch = 7 sts / 7 rows in cable pattern

Finished Measurements: Finished purse will measure approximately 4.5” long and 3” high, just large enough to accommodate credit cards, driver's license, et cetera.

Note: The cables are small enough to be worked without a cable needle.
