Week Thirty-Three: Samantha

Original intended release date: August 14, 2010. See explanatory post.

We visited my folks last weekend, and Mom dug something out of storage...

Samantha Mitts

...my secret weapon. Guys, she is getting a trousseau by the time I'm done here.

For starters:

Samantha Mitts

Samantha Doll Mitts

These fingerless mitts are worked in the round from the bottom up with a gusset thumb. A tiny bit of lace adds interest to the top. The mitts are sized to fit an 18" doll.

This pattern is available for FREE.

Yarn: You will need approximately 30 yards of a fingering-weight sock yarn for best results. (Pictured: Red Heart Heart & Sole in Ivory -- fingering, 1 skein / 50g / 213 yards, 70% wool / 30% nylon)

4 US size 2 double-pointed needles
stitch holder or waste yarn
tapestry needle

Gauge: 1 inch = 7 sts / 12 rows in stockinette

Finished Measurements: Finished mitts will measure approximately 3.5" in circumference at the wrist and 2.5" in length (laid flat). They will fit the hands of 18" dolls such as the American Girl doll.
