Week Thirty-One: Little Turkey

I recently saw a sketch of a Turkish costume with this nifty cross-in-an-oval motif going down the pleated front, and long bell sleeves nipped in by cuffs. This is how those two things translated to a toddler cardigan for my little turkey.

Little Turkey is a simple cardigan worked flat from the bottom up and seamed together. The sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up and set in. It has a lace motif in the skirt and slightly flared sleeves with ribbed cuffs.

Price: FREE.

Yarn: You will need approximately 350 yards of a dk-weight wool or wool blend in a solid color for best results. (Pictured: Classic Elite Yarns Wool Bam Boo in Iron – DK, 3 skeins / 150g / 354 yards, 50% wool / 50% bamboo)

Supplies:
  • One US size 6 24” circular needle
  • Four US size 6 double-pointed needles
  • Four stitch markers
  • Five ¾-inch buttons
  • Needle and thread
  • tapestry needle
Gauge: 4 inches = 19 sts / 29 rows in stockinette

Sizing: Finished cardigan will fit the average 12-to-18-month-old.
